Elevating Mental Health in the National Conversation: MannersPR and the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation
Since 2018, MannersPR has worked with the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (BBRF)—the nation’s largest private funder of mental health research—to strengthen its voice in the national conversation about mental illness, reduce stigma, and promote public understanding of scientific advances in the field.
Our strategy has focused on amplifying the Foundation’s mission to support cutting-edge research while positioning BBRF as a go-to resource for timely, practical, and hopeful mental health content. By preparing and distributing blogs, media pitches, and educational materials in a “news you can use” format, we’ve helped make complex scientific research accessible and relevant to everyday concerns—from social media’s impact on youth mental health to actionable advice for Mental Health Awareness Month.
We’ve also elevated the visibility of the Pardes Humanitarian Prize in Mental Health, working to position it as one of the most prestigious honors in psychiatry. Our media outreach has helped generate national attention around the prize and the remarkable work of its recipients, reinforcing BBRF’s leadership in recognizing global contributions to mental health.
Additionally, MannersPR has helped grow audiences for the Foundation’s free, public-facing webinar series, highlighting breakthroughs in areas like depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, and PTSD. We’ve also supported the promotion of the Emmy-nominated public television series Healthy Minds with Dr. Jeffrey Borenstein, which brings expert insights and real stories into living rooms across the country.
By promoting the voices of leading scientists and sharing compelling, hopeful stories, we’ve helped BBRF engage new supporters, expand its reach, and advance its mission. Together, our work continues to build bridges between research, media, and the public—ensuring that BBRF’s efforts to fund innovation and promote understanding are seen, heard, and shared.
The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation’s Annual International Mental Health Symposium brings together Outstanding Achievement Prizewinners and the recipient of the Pardes Humanitarian Prize in Mental Health. The event is free and open to the public.
